The world of commerce and trading has changed drastically over the past few years and one of the major contributors in bringing this change is e-commerce. The coming of e-commerce, that is, buying and selling electronically on the internet using mediums such as mobiles and tablets, has made it easier for more and more people to run their businesses easily and effectively.  Ecommerce does this by eliminating their need to invest in a physical outlet, hire staff members, etc.

Shopify is one such popular eCommerce platform for people who wish to run their business online. It has a user-friendly interface and multiple features that make it a great eCommerce platform. Here is how you can start selling online using Shopify:

While creating the account you can set up the name of your choice for your online store that would also become your store’s address. You can later change the domain name too.

  • Choose a plan

To be able to sell on Shopify you need to choose one of their payment plans. Shopify currently offers three payment plans that provide different features. Choose one that you think works the best for you and fits your budget. After a 14 day free trial, your payment plan will come to action. You will also need to choose a payment method and your preferred billing cycle. Once you choose a plan you will have a checkout page available on your website.

  • Build up your website/store

Once you have your online store ready, you can start building it up for the customers. Add good quality pictures of the products that you want to sell along with an appropriate description that would tell people about the product in detail. At this point, you will also have to set up the price at which you want to sell the product and mention the number of products you have in stock.

  • Set up payment option

In order to enable your customers to pay for your products, you need to set up payment options. Shopify offers a number of payment methods that you can choose from based on your own preference and convenience.

  • Decide the look

Once you are done with the basics of creating a Shopify account and setting up your store with the products you desire to sell, you can customize the look of your website. Shopify provides you with a default look for the website but most people choose to customize it based on their particular business. Shopify also offers multiple themes to choose from. You can edit and add text, colors, and images of your own choice to make it look like you want to. You can also decide what product you want to list on the home page.
